I qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1974 and become a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1989.

I worked for the District Valuation and Valuation Officer in Exeter, gaining valuable experience in valuation of all types of property for rating, compensation and revenue purposes.

I left the Valuation Office and joined Charles E. Ware & Son, Architects, Surveyors and Loss Adjusters, undertaking surveys and valuations and adjusting claims on behalf of insurance companies.

I moved from the practice having been a partner and having sold the company in 1987 to a corporate organisation. Since 1990 I have practised in my own name as a Chartered Surveyor in the Torbay area specialising in building surveys and RICS Homebuyer Reports.
