Information

Stay for one night or more in comfortable spacious surroundings 6 miles from Durham City, with its new and old shopping centres and wonderful Cathedral and Castle – if you’re feeling fit you could climb the hundreds of ancient stone steps which wind round and round to the top of the Cathedral

Take a relaxing break in an elegant Georgian Country House which is a Grade II* listed building, full of character, and dates back to the 1600s when inglenook fireplaces, shuttered windows and panelled rooms were commonplace.

Ideally situated for touring Durham and Northumberland, and only a short drive away from attractions such as Beamish Open Air Museum, the Baltic Art Gallery, The Centre for Life Museum (which is one of the newest family attractions in Newcastle), The Millennium Bridge, The Angel of the North, Bede’s World, Hadrians Wall, Durham County Cricket Club, the Metro Centre with over 300 shops and lots of entertainment for the younger visitors such as Metroland , or venture farther afield to Holy Island, Kielder Reservoir, Bowes Museum, Raby Castle, Killhope Wheel, Cragside Hall etc. Diggerland is only 2 miles away – providing fun for all age groups.

We are surrounded by famous archaeological digs such as Binchester Fort, and a newer Fort, Longovicium, yet to be excavated has been discovered in Lanchester itself. We are only about 30 minutes drive from the Northumbrian Coast with its miles of glorious beaches.

If you enjoy country walks there are many to choose from – you can wander through the fields down to the Browney River with its rustic picnic area, explore the nearby villages or wander around our farm with its suckler cows, calves, bulls and horses.

Cyclists and walkers are welcome, and we have brochures on the many walks and cycling routes in the area, and can provide lock-up facilities for bikes.
