DSC Holiday Cottages offer you the choice of two superior self catering holiday cottages set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, one in the pretty village of Burnsall and the other in the busy village of Grassington . The Yorkshire Dales are renowned for their beautiful scenery and tranquillity, many visitors enjoy the countryside throughout all seasons of the year. Whether you are interested in walking, riding or touring the Dales there are plenty of options for you to enjoy.

Our cottages have been furnished to enable you to have a comfortable and enjoyable holiday in Yorkshire , they have four star rating from the Yorkshire Tourist Board and we hope that we have thought of everything to enable you relax and enjoy your holiday. Our aim is to provide accommodation which is comfortable and well equipped so you feel at home.

Both Grassington and Burnsall are ideal centres from which to explore Wharfedale and its adjacent dales, also the Bronte village of Haworth, the North York Moors, Herriot country and seaside towns of Whitby and Scarborough . York , with its many attractions or the spa town of Harrogate with its splendid shops and renowned Harlow Carr Gardens are within an hour’s drive of the village.

There are several golf courses in the surrounding area together with horse riding and pony trekking. Day Tickets for fishing on the River Wharfe are available in the village and we can even provide you with details of an instructor if required.

Our Cottages

Grassington

Grassington is the largest of Wharfedale’s villages and offers visitors a wealth of Dale’s history, a centre from which to enjoy many spectacular walks either along the River Wharfe or over the hills along the Dales Way . Centred a round a small cobbled square are a selection of shops offering good quality food, clothing and gifts, together with cafes, pubs and hotels. The village is a popular tourist destination with its many hidden folds and ginnels to explore. Sit on the seats in the cobbled square and relax amongst the charms of village life. Grassington was a thriving lead mining community in the 18 th century and evidence of this can be found on Grassington Moor and also in the local museum where there is also an exhibition of farming through the years. Manna Cottage in Grassington

Manna Cottage is situated at the top of Grassington’s main street. This compact but very comfortable 18 th century former lead miner’s cottage has recently been renovated

to a high standard. Situated in a small terrace, the view from the front windows is one of slow village life and beyond the roof tops, the fells and fields of the Dales.

Accommodation comprises: lounge/dining room, with original beams to ceilings and windows, exposed stone fireplace with gas stove for chose chilly evenings, colour television, video player and radio.

Well equipped kitchen with fitted oak units incorporating an electric cooker, hob, microwave oven and fridge. Kitchen linen provided.

There are two comfortable bedrooms with pin furniture, plenty of wardrobe and drawer space – one double, and a smaller bedroom with adult size bunk beds. All beds have duvets and a extra blankets are provided if the weather is chilly.

Shower room with wash basin and toile, shaving point. Towels are provided.

Utility room with boiler, for the gas central heating, an automatic washing machine and tumble dryer.

Burnsall

Burnsall is one of the prettiest villages in Wharfedale with its village green and arched bridge spanning the River Wharfe. The village is well served by two excellent pubs, a tea room and a village store. From the village you can walk north along the river bank to Grassington, the largest of Wharfedale’s villages where there are many varied shops, a museum, bank and various pubs and restaurants. To the south along the river is Bolton Abbey and Barden Towers .

The Sycamores

This beautifully appointed property has recently been renovated and now sleeps six people in comfort. It is ideally placed overlooking the village green and the River Wharfe. The view from the rear is uninterrupted across the fields which rise to Burnsall Fell.

Accommodation comprises; entrance hall with stairs and storage space

A spacious lounge with open fire and beams, colour TV and video recorder, patio doors leading to a small private paved area with garden furniture and barbeque.

Large dining kitchen with oak fitted units integral appliances. There is a big pin dining table where there is room of everyone to sit and watch the cook.

Downstairs cloakroom.

There are three bedrooms, all a good size and furnished with pin furniture and plenty of wardrobe space, the beds have duvets and linen provided as well as extra blankets and hot water bottles for colder nights; one double, one twin and one bedroom with adult sized bunk beds.

Bathroom, with three piece suite and electric shower over the bath.

Cot and high chair are available on request.

All duvets, bed linen and towels are provided. Coal, oil and electricity are included in the rent. Oil fired central heating throughout. Parking is either on the road opposite or tokens are provided for use in a small private car park as short stroll away.

Weekend breaks available end of October to March. Two nights minimum stay.

Gas and electricity are included in the rent. There is parking for one car at the rear of the cottage.
