Information

The Railway Hotel was built in the 1830’s mainly for the benefit of the workforce constructing the new Preston to Wigan railway line.

It was originally named The Railway Bridge Hotel, but by 1866 it had changed its name to The Railway Hotel.

The pub has a long catering tradition. In 1895 the food to celebrate the consecration of St. Ambrose Church was supplied by The Railway at a cost of 3/- per head.

The refurbished Railway is a many faceted pub which has many reasons for a visit, with regular live music, DJ nights, poker nights, quiz nights, and all live sports shown on our LCD and large screens, as well as offering traditional freshly prepared pub food at reasonable prices.

The Railway serves a wide selection of quality lagers, beers, wines and spirits. We are Cask Marque accredited and have been in the good beer guide for the last 3 years, and always have a choice of 4 cask ales on sale.

We are unrivalled for our sports presentation having recently been awarded North West Sports Pub of The Year in the Great British Pub Awards

Food Service Times Are Mon-Thurs 12–2 and 5–8, Fri and Sat 12–8, Sun 12–7

We hope you enjoy your visit.
