Information

The Barony Hotel is a family run hotel which stands on the shores of the Boardhouse Loch in Birsay.
We offer a prime location for many activities including:
Archaeology
Archaeological sites are abundant in Orkney. You are never very far away from one wherever you are and they are all well worth a visit. New sites are being excavated on all the time. The Ness of Brodgar won the 2012 Andante Travels Archaeology Award.

Bird Watching
We are surrounded by 3 excellent bird reserves and also have cliff walks nearby to see the seabird colonies.

Fishing
Boardhouse Loch is just a walk down our lawn to enjoy some brown trout fishing. We are within easy reach of the other main fishing lochs of Harray, Swannay, Hundland and Stenness. We have boats for hire and a private harbour.

Walking
The shores and cliffs around Birsay are ideal for walking.

Fine Dining
We have a large lounge bar with views over the Boardhouse Loch and the Brough of Birsay where we serve from our extensive evening meal menu. Beef, fish and shellfish feature high on our menu as they are locally produced. Our dishes are all prepared to order to maintain the freshness of our local produce

This makes the Barony Hotel and ideal base for your bird watching, trout fishing, walking or getting to know Orkney holiday. Call us now on 01856 721 327 and ask for either Davie or Anne Davidson.
